Other Details to Note

No refunds for weather-related cancellations. You’ll have full guest access, except for a few locked owner closets. No central AC, but no worries! There are ceiling fans in all bedrooms and the living room, plus a portable AC unit in the loft to keep things cool. We kindly ask guests to remove their shoes when entering the chalet. Bringing cozy slippers is a great idea, especially in the winter! On snowy days or after a fun day of skiing, the mudroom is the perfect place to store your gear. Strong WiFi is available for all your online needs, but please note that cell service may be spotty in the area. Verizon works best, but if your signal drops, you can easily make calls via WiFi (just enable WiFi calling in your phone’s settings). We highly recommend jotting down driving directions and any important check-in info before you arrive, as cell service (especially for AT&T users) can become limited once you’re near the cabin. In winter, our driveway is professionally plowed. 4x4 vehicles are recommended for the area, and be sure to wear sturdy shoes or snow boots to prevent slipping on the driveway, which has a slope. For extra convenience, there’s a shovel provided for the short 15ft path and steps leading to the house, just in case you need it. For your convenience, we have a high chair, pack-and-play, kids books, toys, and games available when traveling with kids. Before you depart, please return items to their original locations.

House Rules

RENTAL AGREEMENT: By your “Request to Book” you agree to the following terms and conditions. Agreement to these terms constitutes a short-term rental agreement during the specified dates at the property specified and for the agreed-upon rental amounts. Please remember this is our family cabin and we want you and others to be able to enjoy it as much as we do. -AGE REQUIREMENT- Stairway to Heaven Chalet requires a minimum age of 25 or older to reserve our home. -MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum number of guests is limited to (12) persons including children. People other than those in the agreement are not permitted on or in the property. Any person on the property is the sole responsibility of the primary Guest/Renter. -CHECK-IN / CHECKOUT: Guests can check-in at their leisure after 3 p.m. PST and checkout is at 11 a.m. PST. Please understand that our housekeeper needs enough turnaround time to clean and prepare the home for the next guests so please be sure to check out on time and follow our detailed check-out instructions to avoid any additional fees. -SEPTIC SYSTEM: We have delicate plumbing. The cabin is on a septic system which means NO products other than septic-safe toilet paper can go in the toilets. Items such as diapers, feminine products, disposable wipes, paper towels, or garbage are not permitted in the toilet. The septic will back up and that is guaranteed to ruin your vacation. If the toilet gets clogged and any of these items are found, you will be charged $250.00. Please tell everyone in your party as the name on the reservation will be responsible if issues arise. -GARBAGE SERVICE: Please take any trash and recyclables to the bear box at the bottom of the driveway upon checking out. If you have more trash than will fit in the bear box, you will need to take the rest of it with you. If trash is left behind in the cabin a $50 minimum fee will be incurred. -WEATHER: No refunds will be given for bad weather or storms. Mountain roads can be winding and steep, we highly recommend four-wheel drive and/or carrying chains during the snow months. We cannot offer refunds in the event of inclement weather or power outages. -WILDFIRE: Unfortunately, the mountains of California are also prone to wildfires and smoke can travel hundreds of miles - there are no refunds for smoke from a wildfire. -RURAL CONDITIONS: Mountain living includes extreme conditions that may require us to cancel your reservations with short notice. Events like excessive snow accumulation, downed trees, and forest fires are unsafe for guests. Thank you for understanding. -SNOW REMOVAL: We provide snow removal service from the driveway. We cannot guarantee snow removal from the front steps or deck. Guest may need to roll up their sleeves and shovel a path up to the front door. Shovels are on-site for guest use. -FAMILIES/CHILDREN: Children are welcome, but keep in mind the cabin is NOT fully child/baby/toddler proofed. The deck, stairs, and fireplace may be unsafe for young children. Never leave children unattended or unsupervised. -PETS: Pets are not allowed on the property. Sorry, no exceptions. A $300 deep cleaning fee will be incurred by the primary Guest/Renter if you violate this rule. Owner's discretion to deny pets. -SMOKING: ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING (cigarettes or otherwise) of any kind in or on the property. Violation of this rule will result in a $500 fine and immediate termination of your reservation. -ILLEGAL ACTIVITY: Do not engage in any illegal activity of any kind anywhere on the property, including illegal internet downloads. -WILDLIFE: Do not leave food or trash outside or in the car – We’re in the middle of a state natural park. Do not leave exterior doors open or screen doors as creatures, birds, bats and even bears may come in! -QUIET HOURS: Although the home feels extremely private, we do have neighbors and we prefer to keep them on our good side. Please have respect for our neighbors and the neighborhood curfew so, please keep the noise to a minimum and quiet after 9 pm. -PARKING- Please use the driveway to park your vehicle. There is room for two vehicles in the driveway. Parking on the road is prohibited during snow removal operations. Parked vehicles may be towed away at the owner’s expense. The vehicle owner is also responsible for repairs to any vehicle that is damaged by snow removal operations, while parked on the road. -RULE VIOLATION: Most importantly, enjoy the space, and please be respectful, as this place is very special to us. If you plan on ignoring any of the house rules please, do not rent this cabin. Thank you for choosing Stairway to Heaven Chalet! We hope you enjoy your stay and the beauty of the Sierra Nevada.

We had a great stay at Brie’s cabin! It’s beautiful and comfy, with all the amenities! I personally loved the aesthetic plus the proximity to Bear Valley for snowboarding. My 12 and 14 year old kids had a blast using the ping pong table. We didn’t really need anything because the instructions were very clear, but the hosts reached out and made sure we knew they were available if we had any issues. I definitely look forward to staying again in the future!

Our 2 families (4 adults and 5 kids ranging from 11-19) absolutely loved this place! It’s beautifully decorated and coordinated throughout the house and nicely renovated. All the kids stayed together in the upstairs loft area, while the parents took the bedrooms. There was plenty of space for everyone. We also celebrated NYE by watching the season finale of Stranger Things on their surround sound living room home theater. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at Brie and Gigi’s cabin over Xmas holidays as 2 families with 5 young kids. The place was the perfect size with multiple different hang out areas for the adults and kids. We loved the open concept main floor and a great balance of a rustic cabin feel with modern amenities. We experienced a few storm related hiccups, but Gigi was a great communicator and stayed on top of all the issues. We had a great time skiing at Bear Valley and playing in the snow a short drive away. For anyone coming in the winter, highly recommend a 4x4 as the driveway is quite steep and may be slippery when icy. Thanks for sharing your place with us! We hope to be back in the future.

A total of 10 of us stayed over the thanksgiving weekend in this beautiful home. It has three floors so there is some climbing to do stair wise but it was no issue for us. We loved feeling surrounded by the trees when we would step out on the porch!! The home feels thoughtfully curated with makeup towels in the restroom, luggage racks in the room, board games galore, a workspace for those who need to hop on their laptop while there, and even a few toys for toddlers. Bring slippers because shoes are left at the door, which we appreciated since there is carpet in some rooms. Brie was attentive as she responded quick when I had a question during check in. Overall, the cabin feels cozy (unlike other rentals that have the bare minimum in the home) and we truly had a wonderful time!

We had an amazing stay at this cabin! Our group of 11—my family, my parents, and my brother’s family—had plenty of space to spread out and relax. The cabin was well-stocked with fun activities for all ages, including ping pong, a karaoke machine, board games, and a cozy fire pit that made for great evenings together. The nearby association park was a huge bonus—we played basketball and pickle- ball, and the younger kids loved the playground. We also enjoyed exploring the beautiful surrounding area, especially our day at Lake Alpine and a delicious dinner at The Lube Room. This cabin was the perfect setting for making family memories!
